Charity 20/20 Cricket Match and BBQ
Wayfarers CC vs Wroughton Wranglers CC
at Wayfarers Sports Club, Dolmans Farm, Ferndown, BH22 9QE
Friday 12th September 2008, 4pm

A charity 20/20 match between Wayfarers Cricket Club and Wroughton Wranglers Cricket Club, Wiltshire is to be held on Friday 12th September 2008 at Wayfarers Sports Club, Dolmans Farm, Ferndown starting at 4 pm.

Martyn Gregory of Wroughton Wranglers contacted Wayfarers Secretary, Rich Sellers, after he and a few of his fellow team members learnt of long serving Wayfarer, Phil Williams, recent horrific accident on BBC TV & Radio. Martyn, has a real sense of empathy with Phil’s situation as he had previously been the victim of a similar incident where he suffered a double fracture of the cheekbone, also by a beamer.

A charity match was suggested when they visited the area for a short cricket tour in September. At Phil’s suggestion the funds raised will be donated to aid the Portland Ward, located at the Eddy Hawker Wing, in Poole Hospital.

Phil is currently an in patient of this specialist ward that deals with long term patients recovering from head injuries and any donations raised would benefit the patient’s day room and help towards items that aid their rehabilitation.

Fund raising activities on the day include a barbeque being held simultaneously for participants and spectators along with a selection of great prizes to be won at the charity raffle.

Wroughton Wranglers C.C are based in Wiltshire and have made a noble gesture in supporting this match.

Wroughton and Wayfarers have raised funds to donate to the ward which will be added to the proceeds on the day.

All those concerned hope for not only a healthy donation to be raised but also to highlight the awareness for ALL cricketers to appreciate the importance of wearing helmets and protective equipment whilst participating in all forms of cricket.

Both clubs along with Phil and his family warmly welcome you all to the match and in anticipation thank you for your support.

I would like to add that any club/individuals that wish to make a donation to the raffle or otherwise can contact myself (until MONDAY 8TH SEPT) - Rich Sellers This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

All donations are gratefully received and the support most appreciated.

Many Thanks

Richard Sellers
