Aravinda de Silva plays in the Premier League!

On the 28th July, former test and one-day international player Aravinda de Silva played in the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League for Sherborne against Wimborne & Colehill. You can read more about why and what happened on the Daily Echo site here! And the Sun picked up on it and you can see that report here.

Dorset Handbook

Tuesday, 16th October 2007

This is a news item on behalf of John Wellman who has the task of putting together the useful Dorset Handbook. For the 2008 season edition he needs the following information from the clubs in the league:

1.    All league winners to supply a photograph of the successful team.  Either a photo or .jpeg via the Dorset site.

2.    Deadlines -    November 23rd - Reports from Secretaries/ Managers of all County Age Group teams, League winners narrative, unusual articles of particular interest.

3.    December 15th - League Secretary report, League rules, Averages for Saturday and Sunday, 2008 fixtures and Adverts.

4.    January 11th - to the printers - Final photos and adverts.

All the information above should be submitted to John, his contact details are in last season's edition of the book. Thanks

Final Weekend Played

Monday, 3rd September 2007

The final games in the Dorset Funeral Plan Saturday Leagues and Dorset Sunday Leagues have been played and the results and tables have been updated. They are currently just preliminary league tables, and are not yet the "Final Tables". Congratulations to all of those that have won their divisions or promotion, there have been some tight finishes and no doubt some tense cricket played. Follow the link to league tables

Make sure you check back in the next couple of weeks for the final team of the month, ratified tables and any other end of season news!

One Weekend Left!

Tuesday, 28th August 2007

There is just one weekend left in the season after possibly the hottest weekend of cricket this year (finally!). There are some teams for who the final game of the season doesn't mean much with promotion not an issue or already won and the same with relegation. However for some teams this weekend will be the most important game of the season - with plenty still up for grabs throughout the leagues on both Saturday and Sunday.

Old Site Hacked, New Site Built

Wednesday, 1st August 2007

If you were visiting the site on Tuesday evening at about half past seven you may have noticed things weren't quite as they should be. Unfortunately, some people with nothing better to do decided to take the site down. As they deleted all the content in the database it was a more severe issue than the one which happened in the first season this site went live - has someone got it in for me?! I have decided therefore for the moment to leave content management systems and therefore this site looks slightly different.

It will still work in a similar way to before, and all the same information will (eventually) be uploaded. There was no user data in the database so no details have been taken on you as visitors to the site. The forum has been up throughout this time, and remains a good way for communication in the league so please keep using it. I hope you enjoy the new site.

P.S Thanks for the messages of support that I've received over the past few days. Helps me realise it is all worth it as there are people out there using the site which is the most important thing!

Thinking Ahead

Thursday, 23rd July 2007

With the horrific weather the country has been suffering I've had a couple of Saturday's to think about things to add to the website, and I need to push them whilst the season is still going so people see them! Amongst some other planned improvements is a thought of mine to add some more club communication within the website.

I've written more about my idea in the Dorset Cricket Forum, so please visit the topic and get in touch or leave your thoughts there. Its all to help your clubs, so if I hear nothing I will do nothing!
